December is upon us and suddenly our schedules are filled with get-togethers, work events, holiday concerts, holiday shopping… the list goes on whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Chrismukkah, Festival, Winterval, or any number of holiday observances. Who has time for design projects? It’s enough work getting a tree up!
So, instead of transforming your house visually, we give you ways to transform your house using a different sense… your nose.
Why your nose? Listen… December is filled with visual overkill and not everyone has the time, inclination or budget to go whole hog on holiday decorations. Seasonal scents can bring a bit of holiday cheer or nostalgia or inviting warmth to any home. Also, if you're in the process of selling your home, Christmas decorations may be off the list while home visits are happening but pleasant winter-themed smells might give you your home just the right amount of coziness for you and your potential buyers.
We already wrote about the Thyme Frasier Fir candle last month. If you haven’t picked one up yet, what is wrong with you? Just kidding (not really). We’re not the only ones who love it. Check out this glowing review (see what I did there?) from New York Magazine. They love the candle so much they posted it twice. Just like we are doing right now.
Not into candles? Want to channel your interior Martha Stewart? Make your own season potpourri with these instructions. No artificial perfumes or aromas in sight.
And if you do make your own and decide to gift some in a nice glass jar, get thee to Mokuba on Queen West and wrap up your creation with one of their beautiful ribbons.
Let us know what you think and share your own ideas for a seasonal scents below!
